For Laser Patients

If you are scheduled for laser hair reduction or a vascular treatment, please review the instructions below prior to your appointment:


Patient Instructions for Skin Tightening

  • Arrive to your appointment without makeup. The skin should be completely clean.
  • Avoid tanning (natural or artificial) prior to treatment.

Before Your Visit:

  • If you experience recurrent cold sores (herpes simplex virus) in the treatment area, prophylactic antiviral medication is recommended. Take your prescribed antiviral the day before, the day of, and the day after treatment.
  • If you are prone to hyperpigmentation (dark spots), begin applying hydroquinone cream to the treatment area two weeks before your appointment.

Laser Waiting Periods:

  • Wait 6 months after completing Accutane or chemotherapy.
  • Wait 3 months after facial laser resurfacing or a deep chemical peel before undergoing a laser facial treatment.
  • Wait 3–4 weeks after Botox or natural fillers (laser cannot be performed over silicone).
  • Wait 2 weeks after a natural tan.
  • Wait 10 days after completing a course of antibiotics.
  • Wait 1 week after using self-tanners (exfoliate thoroughly before your appointment).
  • Wait 1 week after discontinuing topical irritants (including Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide, or astringents) and medications such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, aspirin, or fish oil.
  • Avoid taking any nonessential medications in the days leading up to treatment.
  • If you are pregnant, laser treatments should be postponed until after delivery.
